About the Duluth Police Department
The Duluth Police Department is the third-largest municipal police department in Minnesota and is nationally recognized due to our innovative policing programs. A primary focus at the Duluth Police Department is community policing and working with our community to build partnerships for effective problem-solving and crime prevention. The department has an authorized strength of approximately 158 police officers and 40 support staff. Our 2023 budget is set at $27,301,700. The department is divided into three divisions: the Patrol Division, the Investigative Division, and the Administrative Division.
